Surely I'm not the only one
2009, what a fantastic year to graduate in. 2 years of pissing about, 1 year of panicking and a final year of working bloody hard to make up for the first two and I get to start hunting for jobs "in the current climate" as the BBC puts it so. Honours degrees in biology are useless if you want to stay in the field, and I have no chance of funding myself through a masters.

My last bursary/loan installment is on the day of my last exam. After that it's signing on until I get a job I could have grabbed straight out of school.

Here's to all of you guys in the same position, the the summer ahead of living on £47 a week jobseekers getting jealous of your younger mates who are still council tax exempt. Here's to life!

I find this shred of crap they call a degree merely gets me into interviews where I am then promptly shown the door.

However there are plenty jobs available which I could've got after leaving school. £13k/year FTW >_<

I can confirm that some degrees are of absolutely no use in the outside world.

If you are going to Uni for job prospects then do Computer Science or Economics.

If you want to have the best 3 years of your life, then fuck it and do something you enjoy that won't involve too many early lectures or essays.

I feel your pain
I'll be graduating in a couple of months with a BSc hons in Biological Anthropology.

I haven't had a single interview out of the 50 or so graduate schemes I applied for. I do have a place on a masters course for next year but need a 1st to get funded, so saving pennies doing shitty temp work and borrowing yet more money looks like the only option.
