Useless adviceAs a new parent, people seem to think it's OK to pass on any and every old wives tale possible. "Don't hug him too much". What? Quite what possesses people to pass on baseless, idiotic, useless advice I don't know.
That said, I quite often give car drivers directions and then, after they've moved off, realise that I've sent them down a bike-only route, so I can give as good as I get.
What useless advice have you been given (or handed out) recently?

careers 'advice'I once had a careers interview that went thus:
"So, what would you like to do after school?"
"I was thinking... go to college, do 3 A levels then go to university. I quite like Warwick."
"Hmm. Yes. A levels. Have you considered work based training?"
"Huh? No I said college..."
"Oh, college, right, right. What about a BTEC at the technical college? That's a college."
"but to go to uni I'd need A levels"
"tell you what, i'll just write it down on the form anyway"
"Well...with my GCSE grades I really think that would be a waste of..."
"Modern apprenticeship?"
*SLAMS DOOR*
I think she had some quotas to fill.
