Useless Information
Did you know that crabs wee through their eyes? That maidenhair moss is so called because Anglo-saxons thought it looked like pubes? That Albanians have 17 different words for moustache? Astound us with your utterly useless and obscure knowledge.

Bananas
Dr_Fonz comments that bananas are infertile clones. This is correct; in fact, the Cavendish banana, which is the one we eat, is a triploidal mutant (as opposed to the diploid wild banana), and all plantation banana trees are clones of the one mutant banana. Dr_fonz further comments that a disease particular to that banana could wipe out the entire species. Replace "could wipe" with "is wiping" -- there is a fungus that attacks only Cavendish bananas that is wiping plantations out one by one... and that is why we're seeing more runty green bananas on the market, because they are being harvested small, before the fungus attacks them.
