This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

Something I've never seen
A black person with down syndrome or an Asian with a pet dog. Baffling.

Asian culture generally regards dogs as unclean, or something along those lines, therefore they don't keep them as pets.
Can't help you on the other point, sorry.

Actually, come to think of it it's more Muslim culture than Asian in general.

Go to China
OK they still eat them, sadly, but the attitude is ( slowly ) changing. They even have poodle parlours! While I was there I saw people with pet dogs, Poodles, Labrador Retreivers etc. Apparently Border Collies are very expensive over there.

At first glance
I thought you were explaining why we never see black people with Down's

I know plenty of asians with dogs.
And I know of one black person with Down's. His name is Carlton and he hates the character off the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

I know
loads of Asians both Far Eastern and Middle Eastern who own dogs. In fact they make up about 20% of my clients.

Down syndrome
is a chromosomal defect and can affect anyone regardless of race.

I once met a French Chinese man in Lille..
Went for a meal in a Chinese restaurant and was served by an oriental gentleman who spoke fluent French, and upon realising I was English, preceded to ask for my order, but with a very heavy French accent.

Total Kudos to the guy for being so efficiently bilingual, however, this was totally outshined by the mental image of a Chinese version of 'Allo Allo' that was being portrayed in my childish, heavily wine-induced drunken mind..

Just think 'prawn crackers' voiced in the style of the English spy from the classic 90's wartime comedy, and you'll get the picture..

Here in Taiwan,
there are quite a few locals with pet dogs, however they are all of the handbag variety as big dogs still scare them.

Dunno about black people with Down Syndrome, but there is a Taiwanese guy with Down Syndrome who works as a crossing guard for the school round the corner. Nearly hit him with my bike today as he crossed the road without looking - oh, the irony!
