The winner doesn't always get a mention. I know because when the newsletter comes out, the first thing I do is search for my user name.

With the tendency to submit mini-essays, a lot of winning entries are too long.

it didn't get so much as a whisper in the newsletter.
I once had a line from a QotW story mentioned (it was the one about a Stoke shopkeeper complaining about hard-to-understand decimal currency in the early 1990s), but even then I wasn't credited.
