If only I’d just allowed my Generals to make all of the strategic decisions instead of meddling and interfering with things despite not having any military training or tactical aptitude whatsoever.

... that there was some sort of deal that Japan was supposed to attack Russia from the east when Hitler went in.

Churchill was prone to the same thing.
Except Britain's Generals and Admirals could usually keep his latest brainwave stalled until he lost interest.
