hm...
not sure about the rules for .com but you haven't been able to register single or double letter domains in the uk since nominet was set up in 1996... there are some domains from before then that still exist but no new registrations since... probably something similar in the .coms too...

the single letter domains are the master servers for the DNS system, as such they don't run webservers because they can't afford the bandwidth overhead.
