often violence doesn't help
it gives the stalker something to channel his/her emotions into, to seek your sympathy, to seek others sympathy and to try prosecuting you for it. It is again another way of getting some form of contact.

If you are going to give them a beating, it has to be mentioned what it is for, thereby implicating you. If it is a random beating then the stalker has not been warned off.
