Premium bonds and a building society regular saver account.
How much does it cost in England. It does look like fun.

You can do a 21 day intensive course in the US for about 2K (plus getting there & accomodation) which would probably work out about the same price overall.

Does that include plane hire and all the rest of it or just tuition?
It doesn't sound out of the question.

And is it like learning to drive - you have a couple of hours with an instructor every week and then take a test?

A couple of hours a week, initially with an instructor, then after 15-20 hours you go solo, until you've notched up a minimum of 45 hours flying time, then you have a medical, practical & theory tests and you're sorted.
