An excellent night, there.
How's your football?
Fattest on the buzzer, etc.

I think everybody in the Championship looked up the game against us, first.
We're everybody's cup final.

Excellent

I'm sure you were impressed by the U-21's tonight.
I know you're very patriotic and that.

instead of penalties, there should be dance offs, with the winning team being the one that produces the sickest, most radical moves
the referee acts as beatboxer
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:56, archived)
BRILLIANT!

(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:57, archived)
Oh man this sounds like an excellent idea.

Has there been football?
I have been out doing stuff which I cannot divulge. I'm now trying to do some work but my limbs aren't working entirely as I would expect them to.
How are you JMG?
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:57, archived)
Canny.
Yes, there's been under 21 football, at which England have excelled.
Firm handshakes all round. No girls.
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:58, archived)
Ah, I don't take much notice of this under 21s malarky
well done England anyway
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:59, archived)
we beat spain
hurrah
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:06, archived)
Did you get all the celebrations when Barcelona won... whatever that was a month or so ago?
They were going mental round here, ffs, it's like the geordies celebrating an Isle of Wight win
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:09, archived)
yeah thats normal
my little local town won promotion last year

10,000 people lined the streets, it was crazy.. and spain won the euros too... incredible...

I've seen the way the Spanish serve cider on youtube, not sure I can cope with anything else

(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:28, archived)
i'm confused by this whole confederations cup
what the fuck is it? why are europes teams in it now? is it new or has it changed?
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 21:59, archived)
It's between the winners of each FIFA confederations respective cup with the world cup winner chucked in
It's essentially a warm up for the World Cup next year, so stadiums and logistics can be tested.

I think it's fairly recent.
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:04, archived)
eh? so why are germany, spain and italy there? what is this cup they won? i'm still lost

(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:08, archived)
Germany aren't in the Confederations Cup. They're in the U21 Euro Championship.
Basically, the FIFA confederations are a way of grouping teams for (I assume) World Cup qualifiers.

Asia is represented by Iraq, The Asian Cup winners
Africa is represented by Egypt, who won the African Cup of Nations
N. America is represented by the USA, who won the Gold Cup
S. America is represented by Brazil, who won the Copa America
Europe is represented by Spain, who won the European Championships
Oceania is represented by New Zealand, the Nations Cup winners.
Italy are there as they're the reigning world champions.
South Africa are the hosts.
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:15, archived)
Best way to look at it is like a "Champion of Champions" tournament.

(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:16, archived)
what Karl said, but the European ones are playing in the European under 21 championships in Sweden at the same time
confusing times, no offence
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:09, archived)
I went for a run so didn't watch football.
Sounds like a good result though.
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:00, archived)
the ball should be blue

(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:01, archived)
Fucked, with the potential for either more fucking up, or awesome turnaround :(
Barnes and McAteer? Even me, the eternal fucking optimist when it comes to Tranmere, is starting to have doubts
(, Thu 18 Jun 2009, 22:03, archived)
Egypt beating Italy.
Fantastic result.
