I know someone who had a dolberman and 2, 6, 8 and 13 year olds.

No, it wasn't.
Because it sounds like it was raised properly. No dog is naturally vicious, if they're raised properly, and the children are trained to interact with the dog properly, and are supervised at all times, no breed is unsuitable.
