I'm going to download windows 7 and have a play with it this morning
I quite like vista, It's useless in the working environment because none of our older programs run on it though. I have set up a few networks on it for home use and to be honest i am a fan. (as long as you turn off UAC in control panel).

You have probably done the right thing downgrading, they should send you the Vista disc so you can always chuck it on later
