Staff parties are always shit, I refused to pay for our christmas party here
a. because christmas is fucking shit
b. because I don't want to go and sit in a corner drinking shit "beer" whilst this sorry lot have "fun"

the last place i worked was great,
Staff party was go karting followed by an awesome bbq, this lot dragged me to fucking La Tasca.

i paid £40 for our christmas party
on the basis that
-i can take my bloke
-we go to stay in a hotel
-we can use all the facilities - 10-pin bowling, bowls, swimming, golf, etc
-we get fed and people buy us drinks
-i get the £40 back on the night
-last time, i had a bathtub and i like having a bath sometimes

Not had a Christmas party for about 3 years now, given then I'm also a contractor it'll be a pretty small one this year! Tax man lets me spend £150 per employee though, so that's something.
