whatever it is, and make sense within the context of that. Applies to kids programs too. Even Spongebob makes sense given the limits it sets itself.

things are much more enjoyable if you stick to your own rules. Otherwise you have sloppy writing that invents things as it goes along that undermine previous things massively, so there's no point in bothering. Like Lost did a lot. If you keep moving your own goalposts it sucks.

or anything that isn't done by your own rules. which is fair enough but, you know, SHUT UP.

You just cannot be bothered to find out what those rules are.

Our own, real life universe isn't clearly defined. Shit just happens. You're allowed to make a work of fiction without explaining it all in hyperautistic detail.

you really think that really good sci-fi doesn't have a hell of a lot of rules and thought behind how you can write effectively? All these heroes of cinema etc, Kevin Smith or whoever know vast amounts of stuff like this, that the viewers don't, and don't need to, but the result is a much much better output.

the zombies for the most part are just a plot device and could be replaced aliens, robots, mutant cats etc.

As much as the crap he has produced- all those completely unnecessary remakes of classic horror films.
Looking at his IMDb page it would appear that he's producing a remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the moment. To be fair I don't really care about that one but I'm not looking forward to the remake of The Birds that he also seems to be involved with.
