Adam's alright really, in my books, he's safe enough, if you take him for what he is.
This quintin fella though, is a bit of a blue namer who's trying a little bit to hard to break through into the purple name teratory.

I feel the other way round.
How intriguing.
More to the point, what is the use of that u in intriguing?
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:38, archived)
it gives the 'i' an "ee" sound,
rather than the an "eye" sound it might otherwise acquire without a double 'g'.

Also it is there to maintain regularity as the gerund of "intrigue".

g is softened by i, as a general rule.
the u makes it a hard g, just like in guile and guild and guinness and anguish.

i know, gilt doesn't fit. English doesn't have a lot of consistent sense
