This may go against the general opinion here
but I respect the queen for what she does, going round shaking hands, watching school kids dance and play shit music and all that bollocks. She's 86 as well, and still gets about. Fair play to her I say. I do think there are a few too many hangers on in the royal family so they could cut back on that.

I don't disagree with this, I like the queen and that more than I like the majority of politicans or celebrities

Now this is a story
all about how my life
worked out quite well till now
I’d like to take a minute
To set the scene
I’ll tell how I totally lucked out
And became the Queen
In the heart of mayfair
Born and raised
Being royal was how I spent
most of my days
Till on safari, I was chilling out
Relaxing up a tree
When I heard a couple of rings; it was the phone don’t you see
The news wasn’t good, pops had kicked the royal bucket
I said to Phil, time to fly back, safari’s ruined, fuck it
They flew me back to blighty I was feeling quite low
I was only twenty-five don’t you know
But getting to be monarch is a chance that’s quite rare
So I thought let’s do it, smack that crown on my hair
I kept going for some decades, then got up to the sixth
On the way I’ve had to deal with problems including one mad bitch
But now I look at my kingdom, I have only one care
I have to stay on my throne, because Charles is my heir

My personal opinion on the queen is that "While I don't think any one family should get all the free crap they do they DO bring in ten times more in tourist money than it costs us to upkeep them so I'm all for them in a 'prize act in a circus' POV"

Is the cost of their upkeep any less than it would be to maintain all their estates via English Heritage
plus the cost of a Presidency and his palace, AND the cost of an election every four fucking years?
I doubt it.

Royal family annual cost: £40 million a year.
Total Cost of All White House Elements, for fiscal year 2008: $1,592,875,254
apparently
$200M a year just for Air Force One...
I don't think we need to worry too much about how much they cost us. It's like the cost of a first class stamp for everyone in the country.
