I had an exchange on reddit last week about that record
'Gosh, I used to love that song (YMCA) whenever I would hear it. I thought it was inspirational, about providing hope to a young man who was struggling. Now it's going to be associated with Trump rallies.'

Me:
'Please be /s it's about cruising for gay sex, which in fairness may well have gone on at Trump rallies and good luck to them'

Them:
'Nah, that song is often played at weddings, at dances, at special occasions. I've never heard it being associated with gay sex. Maybe in your country, it has a different meaning, but that's not how it was intended, and it is still often played here in the U.S. for various events.'

I'm still laughing a week later - how fucking naive/ignorant can a person be?
