I saw a pope in the wild once. It was Paul the no 2. Top waving. Cool pope mobile. I was just on the street waving my pope flags , dunno. It was a big deal tho
I remember my nan getting scared as a bloke got a box out. The pope had been shot recently and she survived the blitz so her nerves were shot. We watched as he got out rosemary beads out to be blessed.

even tho I don't believe in any of the old nonsense, it easily reduces me to helpless tears to think of someone's belief in the blessing of those rosary beads, of their bringing them along and lifting them up to that believed-in hope. so we all turn our faces to whatever imagined sun we hope will shine on us, some day
