I'm sure I read somewhere that the whole cooking-at-home thing is a relatively recent, Western phenomenon.
Street food was simply food for most people in most parts of the world.

I believe that was the case in Ancient Rome.
Street food was so popular and cheap that a lot of houses didn't even have the means to cook food.
