Had a request for an oral liquid presentation of a strong opioid painkiller for a palliative care patient.
At the moment he's having to swallow 10 or 11 capsules every day for breakthrough pain, which is not ideal. Total cost to the NHS per month: about £65.

The good news is that we can make a liquid form for him, but it'll cost nearly £1000 a month instead. I think he'll be continuing to swallow the capsules.

I've sent them the quote, up to the Health Board now. Probably depends on how high up in the SNP the patient is.
