Onanother note,As I was walking home yesterday, a small boy walked up to me wheeling a bicycle.
"Excuse me" he said, "Are you any good with chains?"
I looked down at the chainy bit on his bike and noticed that it was royally knackered.
"Sorry" I said, "I know nothing about bikes".
"Oh" he said, and looked sad.
"I'm sorry" I said again, then feeling more needed to be said I added, "You should have bought a skateboard".

that was mean.a similar thing happened to me when I got hit by a car and fractured my wrist. This stoned bloke said to me as I was limping home with my obviously damaged bike - "you should have driven".
