Ha! Some of the chaps in our reenactment group were on the set of First Night and they were all given a talking to about the hamster incident.
The first sacking came that evening when a squaddie ran across the set wearing nothing but a squirrel's tail, hanging out of his bottom, shouting "I'M RICHARD GERE!"
The director went mental when some anonymous wag called from a massed rank of troops "Why can't hamsters drive? Cos they can't get out of gear/gere!"
Sadly, it was years before I joined...
