Depends on whether they share the views of the newspapers or not.I know people get pissed off with me if my bus breaks down and I have to take it out of service, as if it's all my fault. So yeah there will be some working-class people who don't see beyond the end of thier noses.

I'm not sure if unions are the same over there as they are herebut union bosses here tend to get rich on kickbacks and under-table handshakes rather than acutally representing people.

I doubt very much he's getting any kind of kickbackhe has sort of put himself at the head of all this (in the same way Arthur Scargill did with the miners) as the voice of the Union, which is one thing I don't particularly like about him but that could also be the way the media focusses on him rather than the Union to try to create that distorted view he's an egotistical bloathead.

My brother's girlfriend works for LUshe's worked through every strike so far, stopping her usual duties to work on the platforms making sure as many stations as possible are open.

Yes I retract that, that was me just getting a little upset with the wayI'm getting painted with the same brush as Bob Crow by simply defending that we need strong union leadership, maybe not as tactless as his leadership but certainly we can't afford to be scared of making a stand simply because it might be interpreted as being unpopular.
I'm a busdriver, as I'm sure everybody knows by now, and sometime we have to take the drastic step of taking strike action when we reach an impasse with the Management - and yes we feel sorry for people who can't get to work, or can't get to appointments or shopping and such but we have to take that step when it's necessary, which doesn't mean everytime we want a pay-rise.

Those people that take 'passenger surveys' then get annoyed when I refuse to let them scan my oyster, yes.
Whoever is in charge who decides to shorten the damn bus route while I'm on it then expects me to pay again to complete my journey, yes.
But rarely drivers - I've probably encountered about 2 or 3 dicks driving buses since I've been in London, pretty good in six years.

Actually the driver can stop those people doing surveys on their buses especially if it's unauthorised.I've never had it on my bus, but I know a few drivers who have stouted back at people doing surveys or leafletting on buses and told them if they continue to disturb passengers they will be asked to leave the bus.
Some bus drivers can be dicks - we know the ones who seem to get their kicks by being arseholes over passes and such most of the time they can overlook these little details.
