I need some decent guitar-based music to listen to that's from a band that's still current. Basically, we've run out of ideas and the majority of stuff we've been linked to is whiney pissy crap or Swedish death-rape-mutilation metal.

My taste is notoriously shit. I'm listening a lot to Roddy Woomble at the minute (two solo albums, one with Kris Drever and John McCusker) but he went all folk so it's probably not quite what you're looking for. Idlewild are still technically current and still have his voice all over them though.

i can't think of anything else i'd recommend guitaryish at the minute, actually. well, not that i'd say out loud so that i don't get all humiliated

I should look into Idlewild a bit more. Used to not mind them back in the day.

before Woomble went off to do his folk under his own name and Idlewild went back to AOR. They're still worth a listen, but a lot less... vital than they were back in 1999.

Although my first impression was "what's this shite?" as I forgot I'd left 6 music running in the background, so when the sound came on it was plyaing that and something else...

Not too shabby. I have a workmate who's mental about them.
