# looks like piss, tastes like piss, i reckon it is probably piss

# hmm. your argument is a cogent one
i'm sensing money-making opportunities here. if it looks like piss, tastes like piss, and is 4.7% people will buy it for three quid a pop.

# £3 for a tin of piss?
What supermarket are you shopping at?
(, Sat 4 Jun 2011, 22:32, archived)
# Norwegian ones
About £2.30 or £2.40 for a tin of Norwegian home-made piss, about £2.80 for a tin of Danish piss, and about £4 for a bottle of decent British beer. Entertainingly, you can't buy Stella in the supermarkets because it's too strong and has to be sold for an even larger markup in the Wine Monopoly.

# Can't you import some in from the UK?
(, Sat 4 Jun 2011, 22:41, archived)
# nope
the customs duties are strict - each person can import six tins of beer before paying duty, and four bottles of wine, or two bottles of wine and a bottle of spirits. norway's out of the eu so it can do what it likes.

of course, if you get over the border to sweden you can load up your car with only absurdly expensive swedish booze and come back hoping they don't search your boot...

# Jeez....
You need to make your own. Do a Google for 'home distilling kit'. Please don't kill yourself with it or have an explosion in the shed, frightening the life out of your other half and really messing up the washing and the flowerbed nearby when you get a little too adventurous.

Did I admit something? I think not.

# I like Heineken and consider it one of the better lagers.
Certainly better than Carling, Carlsberg and other well known brands.
I find it tastes like beer did when I first started drinking it.

# I like Carlsberg Export
The rest of them can fuck themselves. Here we've got Aass Fat beer though. That's a common favourite.

# Fursty Ferret, Tanglefoot, Hobgoblin, Pedigree, Old Peculiar either those or a good wine
(, Sat 4 Jun 2011, 22:44, archived)
# Those are all beers, not lagers
I agree with you on every one of them.

I can get Scarecrow here for inflated prices. Wychwood Breweries FTW

# Lovely stuff I like ale it's not as fizzy as lager
(, Sat 4 Jun 2011, 22:47, archived)
# i can't get pissed on lager
i feel sick too soon from all the fizz. british stuff is the worst - german pils is nothing like as bad

it's one of the things i miss most while i live in exile is decent beers
