# Matchday 2 was the first Football 'simulation' I ever played. Back on the Spectrum
It was great, I can still hear the squidgey noises that were meant to be the referee's whistle :) Ritman United was the team I usually played as but changed the name and Soccerama were my main rivals.

# On the C64

# ooh Comparing Youtube videos the C64 was a world apart
Spectrum www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnCMkpV3r8k with custom colours
C64 www.youtube.com/watch?v=dErj5ERgLMQ with more gloss slapped on it and different sounds too including a realistic whistle

# Imagine you've been to Glastonbury and really needed a poo for 5 days.
That first one when you get home is just about getting it out.

This one has been brewing for over a decade and had many ideas mixed into it from all through that time. Gearbox took over the IP and had to release this to get all the crap out of the way so they can make their own modern Duke games.

# Splendid description.
are you writing a paper on it?
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 9:23, archived)
# Sorry, had to use all my paper after my last festival trip.
I did love Duke 3D but limited my expectations for this. I mean I was keen to finally get a Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy film made and that had a similarly long wait before coming out.

It had that great dolphin introduction www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojydNb3Lrrs but was pretty shit really. Nice that it finally happened though.

# i liked the knitted bit.
and the intro.

but feel similar as it had lots to live up to.

# seems silly to start a new series of games with a shit one
people had waited this long, why not start from scratch instead of keeping a load of the old crap from previous developers in it?
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 9:26, archived)
# The game was dead so when Gearbox got it they just made it releasable as a labour of love too.
The 'fans' wanted Duke Nukem Forever so they gave it to them. They are starting from scratch I think now but they had all that stuff it was too much to scrap it again seeing as that's what has happened to the game for ever. Lots got done, then scrapped. Then more got done, then scrapped, etc until the company went bust.
