# I'm very out of touch with modern art, I only found out about these guys this week, no excuse

# Hahaha
hell yeah, these guys always raise a smile for me. Proper trolling; they actually make a living at it and have a shitload of fun in the process.

# I wish I could make a living wage making pictures and music
but I lack commitment, so, 9-5 pollution blues it is

# what kind of music (and or performance) are you speaking of?
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 6:18, archived)
# terrible shit that nobody would ever want to buy ; )

I have unrealistically high standards and hate most things I do, b3ta is fine though because it is all for fun

# I guess I'm talking genre
I used to play keys in jazz and R&B bands for years. I still create originals on occasion in my little studio, and create backing tracks for other musicians to use for various purposes. I get paid for those, but it's not a very good per-hour return, if you know what I mean.

# I'm kind of all over the place.
if pressed for a point of reference I would say Zoogz Rift, or Soul Coughing..

but when I reach for the acoustic it's usually in the Kristin Hersh / Frank Black / Jon Fratelli line of things

# There was also that rap you did for the private pants party time song
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 6:55, archived)
# I wasn't around for that.
I'm still feeling kind of left out to be honest.

# I can relate to some of those, to a point
You probably won't relate to my stuff, but I'll thrust one at you anyway. I'ts a dance/jazz/marginally fusional original I call SmoothPass

# I think I heard a rap version of this.
It was a woman, she was saying stuff like, "your call is important to us, please continue to hold for the next available representative".
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 7:10, archived)
# does that mean you think it sounds like please-hold or elevator music?
If so, I agree in a way, but it's mine and not everyone can do it :)

ed: of course I did not expect an answer. You are rather predictable that way.

# when I play piano it's mostly Satie, or a bit of the old Ludwig van.

somtimes a rag or two.

# that covers a bit of territory

# I suppose it's art, given that probably not just "anybody" could do it
(or at least not anything similar twice in a row.) Why anyone would want to, though, is a different matter.

# farting in church, i believe
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 6:45, archived)
# correct--but if it leaves an incidental stain on the pew (pardon the pun) that might be art ;p
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 6:47, archived)
# there's a very nice looking church at the end of our road
maybe i should enquire about about putting on an art exhibition

# nice looking is important--wouldn't want to showcase your work in a hovel
(, Fri 19 Aug 2011, 7:12, archived)
# but would it be more arty in a hovel?
