# Woo! You strike again!
I went to see some slightly mental cats today. This is a liger:

# It looks like that's its entire body
Like its got its little paws in a pouch, and its feet are at the bottom just out of shot
(, Fri 21 Oct 2011, 23:31, archived)
# As big as a horse
Jim is an average sized bloke as well, so I should imagine this is how Sabre toothed tigers were sized back when our ancestors were trying to hide

# Weird.
It's a combination of cute and terrifying. On one hand I hate to see them caged. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to meet them outside of that cage.

No wonder humans have ruined the planet. It's a scary place. We had to kill stuff in order to not be munched.

Or something.

# these things only exist because of humans
and that's not a good thing. Jim had these two donated to his collection because the previous owner "accidentally" bred a lion with a tiger and was probably ostracised by the zoological community. As you can imagine, it does the two species no good whatsoever, but they are wonderful animals in their own right and deserve to be looked after.

# Today was mind blowing
I'm still floating

# same here
but I'm pretty disappointed with my pictures; especially of these two.
I think I was shaking too much with awe (and possibly fear).

# To be honest, I'm pretty blown away just looking at these photos.
They get the message across. As in, awesome.

# As in utterly mental
These guys were fucking huge

# We didn't have time to compose and capture
and it wasn't exactly the best place photographically

But fuck me, until the day I die when he introduced those two through that gate I will gasp.

And as I said at the time, when that woman walked past taking her dog for a walk, it was almost wonderful she didn't have a clue what was ten feet away from her :)

Life's little magic

I had no idea. I think even Terry was pretty awestruck.

Lunch and all, I sense a lie in for this bundle of bones

# Enjoy,
I've got to up early to w*lk the dog and then to w*rk :(

So I bid you sweet dreams.

# I wonder if it did ever happen in the wild.
Wink wink. Nod nod.

Yeah, stupid humans. Just doing shit because they want to.
(, Fri 21 Oct 2011, 23:50, archived)
# sadly, yes.
In the eighties a bunch of scientists grafted a dog's head, shoulders and front legs to the shoulder of another dog, not for any reason other than to see "if it could be done".
I think they survived for a few painful days.

Makes you proud to be human.
