but to me it seems his situation was different.
Had he snuck a wedge of cheese underneath his jacket and wandered out of the shop, I think it fits that profile.
He actually scanned some items and purposely omitted to scan some items that were probably the most expensive in his basket (wine and cheese).
To me that smacks of a very conscious decision to steal.
It seem to me to be a clear case of old-fashioned nickery and he should be treated like everyone else who is caught nicking.
