It allows manual override of all exposure settings and reconnects the ability to shoot in RAW. Even the cheapest Canon camera have the physical ability for advanced features, but Canon engineers 'disconnect' those abilities in the firmware

a few button presses cause the program to load from the SD card when you want to use it. Turning the camera off and on totally exits the program

I just started playing around with the setup. I might even invest in a cheap telescope and build a lens collar.
I used to own a couple of decent telescopes, but a basement flood ruined them :(

About the lens fitting the binoculars, you're in luck. you see, with a DSLR, it would never fit quite so well.

photography is one of those hobbies where ingenuity can save a lot of money.

Jupiter and Venus are converging later this month I believe. You should go for a nice shot of them together.

They also seem to be extremely close to Earth right now (the planet I currently reside on)
EDIT:: oops, I asumed that was Mars, because it looked red. I will have to blow the dust off of my stargazing program to find out when and where things are going to be on these cool crisp nights we've been having lately.
