I only saw the first two (as in released at the cinema) star wars films and was never too fussed about seeing any more.
Or seeing the first two again, for that matter. I enjoyed them when I was a child, but I'm an adult now...

And I'm the same way. I'm only 20 but I think it's a case of rose-tinted specs, because even the original trilogy bores me now.
And I hated the prequels right from the off.
I may be half-pissed, but I still know that the Star Wars films are over-hyped, and they should have been left in the 70s and 80s, not dragged out into tragic spin-offs and whatnot.

I think it's peer pressure that makes people so interested in it and it's nearly as annoying as the way people agree that soccerball is anything other than just another sport that people play.

It's a desire to be part of a group, which is why, as you say, people take football really seriously. It's just a sport, a recreation.
