EDIT: I believe there's such thing as a "closet" furry too.

It almost sounds like furry is a sexuality or something. I'd say it was adorable if it wasn't creepy at the same time.

I wonder if it is more related to playful sexual anonymity in some cases (like a masked ball), or assuming a different persona for varying reasons.

Edit, hahaha, from what I remeber of being a 15 year old lad, as long as it fitted you'd put it in anything!

Too funny to be disgusting.

I wonder what his conversations are like when he's talking to his mates about sexual conquests! "Yer I got home from the pub and did it 3 times like, with a teddy, giraff and then and elephant"

If it makes me sound even stupider, I was gonna say Appleseed too.
I haven't watched any big-robot anime in years.

And here's me, thinking I know 80s-90s anime. I know shit. XD
Yeah, lovely design, I think I've got a figure of that somewhere. I wonder what happened to this kind of anime, it's all cute big-eyed stuff now.

Back when men were manly as fuck, and not moping emos.

Patlabor was kind of like hill street blues, but with robots.

Of course, Shinji in NGE was arguably the start of whiny protagonists. I dunno, I'd be pretty thrilled if I got to pilot a giant robot.

That was supposedly Sadamoto poking fun at NGE fans for being perverts, or something.

They then copied the design for a Transformer called Jetfire. I still have mine on a bookshelf across the room.

It's Macross. go-bots aka Machine Robo had nothing like this in their designs unless you just count a jet that changed into a robot as the same thing. Valkyries had jet, gerwalk and battroid modes, the latter we see above. Takara/Hasbro did use the large VF toy as Jetfire but the colours are wrong, especially the engine/missle pods on the back. The original toys are much nicer (and deadlier) as even the giant SDF-1 had multiple launchers of plastic death while the "robotech" version released under Matchbox was a copy of the same toy sans death launchers :(
