I like Amazon. They don't pay tax, sure, but they're hella convienientand didn't quibble about giving me a refund on delivery charges when they failed to deliver by the promised time.

This is true.The world changes and sometimes the stuff we get nostalgic about gets swept away.
It was always cool visiting the big HMV in Manchester when I was a kid though.
Looking at the weird album covers and browsing was part of the fun of being in a record shop.

Amazon is useful for research and cheap toys/boardgamesbut bookwise I try to give the nice independent bookshop up the road from me as much custom as possible. Otherwise my local row of shops will only offer an awe-inspiring range of fried chicken.
