# There's nothing wrong with that
I consider myself a bit of a republican, but have to admit that the sight of 1 million people in the mall yesterday did stir some vague feeling of pride in me...

# Yup, that was Grand.
Enjoyed the Notting Hill procession, the Decades one was good (bad camera changes though), but the Commonwealth one was a bit messed-up by the arty types.

# Did you hear the
commentary for the Notting Hill bit.
Those two women made no sense at all, David Dimblebum was baffled.

# best thing about the parade was
listening to the commentary. They had wayne hemmngway and david dimbleby on BBC1 ripping the piss out of the woman who designed the floats.

# Hehe:
I loved the "What is Platinum?" line.

(ed) And the food bit:

DD:"So, what does this represent, Spaghetti Bolognese?"
DT:"Yes, this is the kind of food we ate in the 70's"

Enter the 80's float...

DD: "So, what is this now? Chinese food?"
DT: "Yes, it represents the kind of food we ate in the 80's"

WH: "So, we didn't have Chinese Food in the 70's then?"

etc.

# Hah ha...
that was good. Also the pregnant man picture on the 60's float - the campaign was from the 70's by saatchi & saatchi - which didn't even exist in the 60's. Needless to say DD & WH picked up on this too...

[edit: fuck me, I'm a boring git.}

# Didn't Dimblebum say...
That Wayne worked for Red AND Dead?
Was that some kind of political statement, d'ya think?

# he'll do anything y'know
I saw him give a talk at Urban Gardens (wife is horticulturalist) and about 60% of the people in their didn't know who he was and walked out when they realised that all he going to talk about was a making social change by creating a new living environment nr gateshead and didn't mention gardening once.

# I've got something that'll create a new living environment near gateshead:

# OOOoOh!
Oh, yes Papa, let's drop a warhead on Gateshead!

It'll be like a great big picnic with mushrooms and lashings and lashings of high-purity plutonium!
