# I enjoyed the jubilee concert
is that a crime? I watched it down the local pub. Everyone was singing. It was fun.

# I saw the last hour
and enjoyed it as well.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:48, archived)
# thought there was a lot of snide coverage in the press
all utterly irrelevant. It entertained. That's enough.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:50, archived)
# I agree totally
but at points the sound was pants.

I felt sorry for some of the people on stage who obviosuly couldn't hear themselves.

# There was one blemish....
Topl***er. Totally unnecessary. Must have a new single coming out or summat.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:56, archived)
# I feel sorry for toploader
one hit wonders. and it wasn't even their tune.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:57, archived)
# Sorry?
That one hit musta made a bomb from replays and sainsbury's and, the chap got to set up a permanent porking contract with Gail Hipgrave (nee Porter).

Sorry my arse. Jealous more like.

# their career is fucked
they were a gigging band with ambition. that hit has fucked it all up - and alienated them from the core market they wanted to sell records to. a hit like that is a curse.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 10:09, archived)
# Not only was it not their tune
it wasn't any bloody good
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 10:02, archived)
# Its always
easy to pick up on the bad points which is what the press seem to be good at.
Bastards.

# It probably was enjoyable...
...in a busy place with an atmosphere of happiness and cameraderie, but us shrivelled-up vegetables at home watching it alone/w-partner while reading B3ta... different world mate.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:51, archived)
# but it was extremely fucking funny!!!
I enjoyed that evening no end, mainly thanks to b3ta...

and the fireworks were damn good.

# Yeah,
I saw them from my bedroom window, 5 miles away and they were still dead cool.
b3ta makes shit telly fun.

# There's nothing wrong with that
I consider myself a bit of a republican, but have to admit that the sight of 1 million people in the mall yesterday did stir some vague feeling of pride in me...
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:51, archived)
# Yup, that was Grand.
Enjoyed the Notting Hill procession, the Decades one was good (bad camera changes though), but the Commonwealth one was a bit messed-up by the arty types.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:54, archived)
# Did you hear the
commentary for the Notting Hill bit.
Those two women made no sense at all, David Dimblebum was baffled.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 9:57, archived)
# best thing about the parade was
listening to the commentary. They had wayne hemmngway and david dimbleby on BBC1 ripping the piss out of the woman who designed the floats.

# Hehe:
I loved the "What is Platinum?" line.

(ed) And the food bit:

DD:"So, what does this represent, Spaghetti Bolognese?"
DT:"Yes, this is the kind of food we ate in the 70's"

Enter the 80's float...

DD: "So, what is this now? Chinese food?"
DT: "Yes, it represents the kind of food we ate in the 80's"

WH: "So, we didn't have Chinese Food in the 70's then?"

etc.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2002, 10:04, archived)
# Hah ha...
that was good. Also the pregnant man picture on the 60's float - the campaign was from the 70's by saatchi & saatchi - which didn't even exist in the 60's. Needless to say DD & WH picked up on this too...

[edit: fuck me, I'm a boring git.}

# Didn't Dimblebum say...
That Wayne worked for Red AND Dead?
Was that some kind of political statement, d'ya think?

# he'll do anything y'know
I saw him give a talk at Urban Gardens (wife is horticulturalist) and about 60% of the people in their didn't know who he was and walked out when they realised that all he going to talk about was a making social change by creating a new living environment nr gateshead and didn't mention gardening once.

# I've got something that'll create a new living environment near gateshead:

# OOOoOh!
Oh, yes Papa, let's drop a warhead on Gateshead!

It'll be like a great big picnic with mushrooms and lashings and lashings of high-purity plutonium!
