It's always been like that I thoughtView old just means 'show me the most recent archive page'.
Everything goes into the archive page as soon as it's posted and a new archive page is created when the limit is reached.
The main 'board' page is just a floating page that picks up the first N (15) posts and therefore often overlaps with the archive pages.
I guess it all depends on how you count the posts, from the first one or from the most recent.

it was implemented whenthe server died and cal had to give the board mouth-to-mouth
