I'm the fucking IT manager and I sit near the door. Now normally that's not a problem, I just put on a smile when someone comes in and find out what they want. This morning was different. A lady rings the "oi you!" bell and when I ask how I can help she says "I'm xxx xxxx and I'm starting work here today."

You're fucking what? No one told me! Do you need a computer? A login for the network? An email account?

And it's a job I enjoy doing. Few things better in this world than taking someone who's positively livid with broken technology, holding their hand and leaving them smiling and happy. That's why I got into this work.

What gives me the right zeppelins though is when the boss hires someone and doesn't let me know.
