They're not that expensive.
You don't have to feed them for a start.
Unless you get one of them Tamagotchi ones.
Then you're fucked.

We had a teacher in school
who took great pride in confiscating them and spending the entire day force feeding them.

I fear your chances are slim.
If munkt0n did want to code a game in, or someone wanted to donate code for one, they'd probably want to do something new and original. Well, new for our messenger anyway.
In my humble opinion, what I'd like to see is catagories in the linkies section.

I said I would code one
but I don't have any ideas and no one seems to want to suggest any.
I've been told that connect 4 isn't wanted, because it's been done

I'd love chess.
Based on the old principal of correspondance chess, which I still play by e-mail. Failing that, Othello? May be called something else in the States.

othello, reversi, go
it's called all of those
chess is difficult, coding wise

chess is difficult, coding wise
I can imagine.
Although I'm sure it could be simplified to a point. No AI required, and some mutual understanding of the rules should leave out some code. I wouldn't like to try it though, and I doubt you would either ;)

I don't think I'd like to leave it to the rules understanding
no way I'm coding an AI, so that's right out

you all seem to think you can say whatever you want
so I think I'm going to start doing that too.

and what I'd like is for the links page
to be numbered backwards from how it is now so I could remember what page something was on rather than having to sift through it trying to remember approximately when it was posted

If you ask me
4rthur is just right as it is.
I think m3ss3ng3r tried to do too many things, and just ended up falling over all the time as a result.

I concur.
I think if 4rthur was to expand, then maybe the bolt-ons should be independantly hosted with the same CSS?

wouldn't really be 4rthur then
the cookies and database entries wouldn't really transfer. it'd either have to be open to the public, or you'd have to make a new account

Good point, well made.
Maybe expansion is only possible if the donations provide enough cash to keep the server in line with the load, without taking it to the edge.

he said if I wrote one, he'd give it a try
and take it down if the bandwidth became too much.
I've found an article on interfacing flash games for multiple players. If I ever feel the motivation to learn to do that, it may reduce the load on the server. Or it may not, I don't know

I don't think the server load on m3ss3nger
was helped by the xk of javascript it had to load every time you made a move/refreshed/breathed.

yes that's what I thought
if there was just a way to send a little message telling something to update, that would be good. I don't know if that's easy to implement though

I wouldn't know, but it's an interesting idea.
Let me know what you discover. Maybe I could help out at some point.

Thing is
m3ss3ng3r did that to me all the time, telling me that I was the only one on, often at midday on a weekday or something.
Edit: But not necessarily with the rude message, though.
