that RHCP are the exception to that rule - their work from Califonication onwards has been better than anything else they have done in my opinion.

that's why I like it - they are doing more songwriting these days and not relying purely on their outstanding musicianship anymore.

I enjoy listening to their virtuoso playing, but it takes a well written song with a bit more depth to keep me coming back.
