# nice
but I fucking hate stencil "art"
99% of it is fucking lazy-arsed daub
at least old-skool spray can hoodlums made a bit of effort

# grr
freehand (unless done well) is 99% ugly scawled or bubble written tags. people trying to gain a megre amount of fame by destroying a perfectly good surface. Stencils are nearly always astheticly pleasing and are nearly always anonymous.

# piffle
how is spraying a poorly-traced picture of miles davis fifteen times down the side of a war memorial "aesthetically pleasing"?

it's fucking chav graffiti of the lowest order

(, Thu 15 Jul 2004, 11:09, archived)
# miles davis eh?
i dont advocate crap graffiti, especially not on war memorials. but compare this

stencilrevolution.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10399&password=&sort=4&cat=502&page=1

to a typical tag

zoomone.free.fr/images/graf/tagboite.jpg

it suddenly becomes much less chav graffiti and much more art. i admit, there is lots of good freehand about. and many crap and poorly placed stencils, but if you compare the ratio of the two stencils pull ahead in the asthetic department.
