TJ: anyone got a portable harddrive mp3 player? how durable are they? wanna get a Creative Jukebox 3 20gb but kinda worried about carring round a running harddrive especially when cycling & listenting to it at the same time

its fell down the stairs, been carried in a trouser pocket, dropped from 3 feet onto concrete and covered in beer, yet it still works.
admittedly the aluminium case for it helps.
the hard drives are always well protected inside.
i'd recommend a rio mp3 player though over a creative.

that's some treatment
for one reason it'd be nice to have a dedicated harddrive just for my mp3s, that way I can sort out all the ones I want from the ones I'll never play again
edit: yeah was talking with a friend last night and said to look at the Rio ones, the Jukebox 3 looks nice in that it can record to uncompressed wav and also mp3

2057 songs on mine, although at the mo i'm listening to just 33 songs on one playlist.
just remember that some of these players 'hide' the music from your pc when you use them as a proper hard drive.
philips hdd120 is also a good choice if you want line-in recording

but yeah I'd probably only listen to a fraction of the tracks most of the time, having a huge range of music in one compact box is a very tempting gadget to get
/trying to justify spending £150 on a mp3 player

I'm looking for a waterproof mp3 player to listen to my favourite b3ta radio shows whilst swimming.

the back of my shorts, or maybe in my pocket - or I could modify one of them james bond type holsters to hold it securely - or a belt perhaps? tuck it in my goggle strap? hrm, good question... If I find the player that works in water I'll experiment!
