you flippin` posted them :p

generally images should be maybe 500px wide at most, 280 if you fancy your chances at getting a front page, and as small as possible in terms of file size

for photographic images, you want to save as JPG, and for cartoony stuff / animations, you want to use GIF

have a squizz at the b3ta FAQ and also at Lemony`s wee optimisation thingie: www.lemony.co.uk/optimisation

we try to keep animations under 250K and static images under about 60-70K to help the dial up people
