# alopergies for the repost

2 - probably obvious imageready question as im a macrodmedia man usually

a - how do you switch on onion skinning ?
b - why does it create a new layer every time you duplicate a frame ?

#
a) No idea what onion skinning is, sorry.
b) Each frame is essentially the same PSD file (same layers and everything) but can have different layers switched on/off and positions, as well as layer blending options. However, the content of the layer as well as any transformations are the same across all frames.

# ah ok
its a bit confusing

onion skinning is where you see the contets of the previous frame over your current frame - but much lighter

thus making animating easier

# In which case
Switch on the previous layer and wind down the opacity, then hide it again.
However, any changes you make to a layer in frame one are propagated to all the other frames (very annoying!) so to switch that off, right-click the layer and untick "Propagate Frame 1 Changes".
