Hamburgers were originally called "hamburg steaks".
During WW1 they renamed them to "beefburgers" as the food had a German name in it. [Likewise, a "Frankfurter" became a "hotdog"]
After relations with Germany normalised people used the two terms interchangeably.
A Hamburger and Beefburger are the same thing.
