the only thing insulting about it is that SSG will take offence to being called gay.
therefore him more of a homophobe.

you're presumming that he will take offence to being called gay which makes you the homophobe and if he does take offence it's more likely to be with your attitude rather than with what you're saying about him.
It's getting too common to use 'gay' as a term of offence and I blame Little Britian for making things worse.

from one of my Photoshop Studio Techniques books and it says there is no right ot wrong in the ways it's pronounced - so I appologise if I seemed to making my point too strongly, which was that even though I and millions of others pronounce it 'gif' as in 'Gift' there are still a proportion of people who call it 'jiff' whether Compuserve defined the pronunciation or not.
Fair enough?

Fair enough?

I must admit to finding it vaguely interesting how quickly the word "gay" changes. I'm old enough to remember when it simply meant "happy". It then became shorthand for for homosexuality, and now it's changed yet again into a euphemism for "shitty". Words change; it's their nature to change, and it's nothing to get hung up about.

How they are used changes but not always for the better. Why should calling someone 'gay' mean: Sad, shitty, freakish, boring, pervert, weirdo?
Homosexual people took on the word to mean homosexual, ignorant people responded by changing the definition of the word to become an insult.
'Queer' was used as an insult, homosexuals took on the word as something to be proud of so in that instance it was something positive and disarmed the bigots.
I'm all in favour of disarming the bigots and not pandering to ignorance because it seems to be a bit-of-a-laff. Just like the racist humour of the 70's with Love Thy Neighbour and Alf Garnett etc.

and suggesting that they might be the...
and i'm gay anyway...
this...
