# My first post WAHOO!!!
Hi all I am new to this and would love to know how you do the animated pics?
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:29, archived)
# easiest way
is to make a series of still pics as frames, then whack them together in a gif animator
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:30, archived)
# Thats
how I do my lame efforts
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:43, archived)
# i just put this script up
here to see what was in my b3ta folder. i never realised quite how rubbish i am
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:46, archived)
# Nice little script that
May do something myself...

Maybe if I add a mouseover that shows a preview on mouseover but loads a little gif otherwise....... hmmm....

# i do them
in imageready which comes free with photoshop
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:30, archived)
# there are many ways
lots of us use imageready - it comes with photoshop 6 (and possibly higher). if you've used photoshop it's really straightforward.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:31, archived)
# it still
confuses me. but then again, i've not tried properly
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:32, archived)
# I agree
although I do find it really nice to do post-production or late additions to images using Image Ready, the original creation still seems simpler in something like Animation Shop.

I used to use Ulead GIF Animator for optimisation, but IR seems very capable at this too, so it's superceded Ulead.

# Imageready which comes with Adobe Photoshop
or GIMP (which is free, I believe).
Or you can even make them with Macromedia Flash!

# I find
making the images easy.....
it's the having a good idea bit that comes first that's the bitch!!!
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:32, archived)
# I find making the images difficult
and coming up with an idea... difficult.

I find it easy to talk about this, so I'm half way to a cure.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:36, archived)
# I find ideas fairly easy
but posting them impossible.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:44, archived)
# if you have ideas
posting is the easy bit.

post post post post post!!
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:50, archived)
# tried tried tried tried tried!
1) Can't draw for toffee
2) Tried to host a pic, followed all instructions, it laughed at me.

Latest idea followed an email from my sister, apparently my niece plays 6 instruments in her playschool concert and I had a mental image of this 4 year old one-man-band...
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:59, archived)
# boo & nay
that would be a top pic. i'm almost tempted to give it a go, but i have musical hummus tonight, and i don't want to waste it.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:04, archived)
# do you want me
to write you an guide to posting pics? i wouldn't mind doing it for you
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:10, archived)
# Kind people have already done this
It's my computer playing silly buggers. Apparently I need to shout at BT but I simply can't be arsed this year.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:12, archived)
# in what way is it your computer?
and that's the problem with bt? i can't see how it would affect your ability to post pics
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:14, archived)
# I do the ftp ftp bit,
lovely ms-dos looking screen, type lcd c:\ etc etc, type bin, type put nameofpic.jpg, and that's where it all falls apart and tells me it can't find the file or some such nonsense.

I'll get an expert into my house after Xmas.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:21, archived)
# you have to create
the file first then store the new one. what you really want is an ftp program. google for "free ftp software" or somesuch. i use robot ftp and leech ftp can be good too
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:28, archived)
# maybe
you'd be better off with an ftp client? i think SmartFTP is a freebie download if you can find that.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:29, archived)
# Thanx all
but it will wait. Like I said, not much of a graphic artist either.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:39, archived)
# I find having good ideas is difficult
and just farting around tends to work out better than attempting some magnificent thing I've envisioned in my head.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 19:59, archived)
# I do them in Fireworks
You can start with a first and last frames and let "tweening" build the rest or add/duplicate frames as you go. Export to animated GIF.

# Yeah,
Same deal with flash 5. Hey, My eye lid is twitching. It has ben for the last 2 hours now.
(, Mon 23 Dec 2002, 20:00, archived)
# I never thought to use Flash for GIFs
I've only made .swfs with it.
