# Now there's someone
I ain't seen for a while....
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 20:57, archived)
# is there any prospect of getting one of the games back on *cough*
There is already a usable scrabble game site at www.thepixiepit.co.uk/scrabble.htm so if it's a push maybe just have the scrabble for now.

# That looks like it could take weeks
Is it not real time?
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:04, archived)
# you get an e-mail each time it's your turn
but if you are online together on a messanging service you can just take your go and tell the other person/people it's their go.
It can be as fast as a normal game.
It has submit boxes to online dictionaries on the board page to act as a guide for acceptable words too.

# You know
some people used to play chess by post - one move took days.
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:15, archived)
# I think they even played it before post.
Bloke on a horse/Wild blue yonder etc...
Weeks.

# those people are probably still playing then
;)
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:16, archived)
# They still do
What I just can't imagine, is playing an RPG by post, but that happens too :0)
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:24, archived)
# How about playing Snap by post?
you deal out your card, mail it off... if the card they deal out matches, they win the hand, otherwise they mail it back.

# It wasn't *that* bad...

Well, ok, maybe it was....
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:37, archived)
# Not currently
I would need to raise over 100 quid every month for the amount of bandwidth used by one of them games....

I'm trying to come up with a way, but currently it's looking like games may not be back...

# conference videophoning
is out too then?
Oh well ;) If the games had stayed everyone would have gotten fired by March.

# you can play scrabble on yahoo
except they call it literati
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:22, archived)
# can you play chess
do they call it 'intelligensia'?
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:31, archived)
# it's actually called chess
the literati game is same-but-different though... basic rules are scrabblish but the board layout and tile scores make it much stranger
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:34, archived)
# oh
i didn't notice the difference really. I was quite addicted to it.
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:38, archived)
# It's not a bad kinda different
in fact it's nice to see a different take on the game... I just wish their dictionary was consistent, and included more non-american-only words.
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:40, archived)
# and some of the people on it
struggle with anything over 4 letters
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:56, archived)
# i just went to yahoo
(bu going to google and typing yahoo into the search and clicking the result) and got there loaded a game (spades - which is like whist i believe) but then got scared and ran away. Loading google again in that window and pretending it never happened.
(, Thu 2 Jan 2003, 21:40, archived)
# i used to play hearts
lots more complicated unwritten rules than even on b3ta for which you can be told off - so you should be afraid.
