What annoys me the most about that
is how it was written as a stereotype shit and detestable catchphrase from the offset.
And yet people quote it like it's actually funny.
I'm genuinely intrigued to know which way Ricky Gervais intended it to go. Shit catchphrase becomes a shit marketable catchphrase, or a monster that might push him over the edge.
Or...... was he desperate to do a catchphrase thing (knowing how much money he made off "that dance") but didn't want people having a go at him for it, so came up with the catchphrase that the character "doesn't want to do".
