Pffft!On the front of the Metro this morning the perpetrator was described as a ripper, which set me to wandering about the definition.
I am only aware of two previous rippers, Jack and Yorkshire. So there's obviously a link to killing whores but what else is required? Is it necessary to use a hammer or cut off their tits? Do you have to kill a certain number to graduate from merely having knocked off a couple of tuppeny tarts to full ripper status?

Good question.I think it's an Australian phrase originally. When the first multi-proz murder was reported, the policeman said "That's ripper!".
