TJ:
I'm suffering insomnia tonight. /sigh
I'm lying in bed, can't sleep. It's almost 3am. Get up to surf the web a bit, hear someone moving a wheelybin outside somewhere. That's odd, garbage night is tomorrow. Oh well.
Finish surfing, go pee. Head back to bed. As I'm getting into bed something catches my eye outside the window. A large gum tree opposite my house is brightly illuminated with an orange colour. Look a little longer... it's not a steady flash of an indicator... this is the flicker of a fire. Oh shit! Throw on some shorts and run outside.
Some dopey fucker has moved a wheelybin into the middle of the road and set fire to it. By the time I got to it, it was a 4" high, 4' diameter pool of burning, molten plastic with a couple of lumps that made it recognisable as to what it once was. Awesome...
Called emergency, fire truck arrived within 5 mins. Spray spray, kick lump, spray a bit more. Shovel time. 10 mins later they drove off. Faint smell of toxic fumes in my bedroom now. That'll make sleep easier...

I have a digicam and all but frankly when I saw sign of fire, my fire warden training kicked in, not my shutterbug reflex :(
Sitting here at the poota listening to the fireys scrape the slag away I lamented having not taken a pic. It did look pretty impressive.

Actually I popped a tranq and I'm just drinking water until that kicks in :) I think the main problem is that I was up till 5am last night due to a ran-too-long dinner party :)
